How To Choose The Best Adjustable Bed

If you’re like me or at least you’re someone who still hasn’t gotten his or her Senior Citizen identification yet then there’s a large probability that you haven’t heard about adjustable beds. Am I right? But now, it’s time to know a little more about adjustable beds because believe it or not, adjustable beds are not just for old or sick people, although they are primarily built for them. An adjustable bed, by definition, is a bed that can be adjusted or bent in several angles or positions. An adjustable bed, by the way, is also known as a semi-Fowler bed since the user shall be sleeping in a semi-Fowler position when using an adjustable bed.

There are ergonomical benefits when using the adjustable bed in a semi-reclining position and with the knees bent on a slight angle. Such a position can support the natural curves of our body (the spine, in particular) and alleviate pressure overall. Naturally, a patient must be comfortable first with said position.

Now, if you’re out to purchase an adjustable bed for your needs, pleasure and comfort, here are the things that you should be looking for.

CHOOSE THE MATTRESS FIRST – Yes, technically, this doesn’t fall under the category of adjustable beds because it’s the base that’s really adjustable and not the mattress itself. Now, if you’re wondering why I’m asking you to place equal importance on the mattress, that’s because your sleep won’t be as restful and trouble free if the mattress doesn’t combine well with the adjustable base. You must make sure that the form of the mattress conforms naturally when the adjustable base is used.

WARRANTY – According to reviews made on adjustable beds, consumers are advised against purchasing adjustable beds with lifetime warranty because these can be deceptive. It’s imperative, yes, to purchase an adjustable bed with the longest warranty possible because the adjustable bed is still a mechanical device and a lot of breakdowns may happen. But make sure that the warranty spells out everything you need to know and generally, you can be assured of getting a good bargain already if the warranty for the adjustable bed lasts till ten to twenty years. Make sure that they also specify in the terms and conditions that you at least get one year worth of on site technical service because a lot of things may happen, as this is a mechanical device we’re talking about. Oh and lastly, make sure that you get everything in writing!
